Social Standards Iconography

Introduction

Social Standards is a comparative analytics platform for contextualizing consumer data. During my internship, I created multiple sets of bespoke icons that were featured in marketing collateral, including Consumer Insight Reports.

In addition, I re-designed the iconography on the Social Standards platform. My goal was to create cohesive, custom icons that accurately represented each complicated concept.

Insights

These icons, featured on the company website, each represent an insight that the Social Standards platform offers.

Market Verticals

Social Standards featured data from seven market verticals. I designed a unique icon for each market vertical, and these icons are used in reports, social content, and within the platform.

Plant-Based Foods

The Plant-Based Food & Beverages Report required several specific and rather obscure icons, so I created a bespoke icon set of popular plant-based foods.

Products

The Social Standards platform includes two primary tools: Consumer Analytics and Influencer Analytics.

Consumer Analytics allows businesses to evaluate consumer conversations. Influencer Analytics allows brands to discover and validate the correct influencers for any project.

Analysis Tools

Within each product, there are several analytical tools. For example, Cohort Analysis allows the user to compare different groups of consumers, such as 25-29 y/o.

Tabs

Within each product, there are tabs to explore additional tools.

The Relations tab allows users to see the relationships between topics that consumers are discussing and to quantify the size and significance of those relationships.

The tab icons did not initially exist in the platform, so I created original icons for this project.

Actions

Each screen also includes miscellaneous action icons to help users utilize all features, such as navigation arrows and the save function.

Reflection

Distilling such complex concepts into tiny spaces was a challenge requiring a combination of problem-solving and design expertise. I curated each icon to accurately represent the corresponding concept or feature, and after many brainstorming sessions, five different internal presentations, and numerous revisions, I am very proud of the final product.

Creating these icon sets allowed me to expand my skills in both design and in the creation of intuitive user interfaces.

On my last day at Social Standards, my team surprised me with shirts featuring the jackfruit icon I designed for our Plant-Based Report!
